After a couple years of “occasionally” using Prolific Works while paying $20/month ($240/yr) for its “Plus Plan”, I downgraded to the free version and decided to give StoryOrigin a shot. It’s less than one-third (!) the price and has about five-to-ten times the features.
The choice was between BookFunnel and StoryOrigin, and the latter won based on a combination of features, price, and the fact that it’s an indie developer currently doing it (mostly?) all on his own. So I’m down with supporting him.
One of the unique features I find appealing (and am keen to test out) is that StoryOrigin has three types of Group Promos—Giveaways, Reviews, and Kindle Unlimited. It makes Prolific Works seem very stagnant (and I kinda feel like a sucker for staying with them so long.) I won’t be surprised to see massive changes come to PW in 2021 (or their acquisition/closure).
Something else to note is that StoryOrigin has just left its beta phase and is offering lifetime discounts on upgrades to the paid plan if done before April 25th.
